Welcome to The 4-State

The annual 4-State video competition for high school broadcast and film students takes place November 6-8, 2026 on the campus of Missouri State University in Springfield, MO. This will be the 19th year of the 4-State.

The event gives high school students a chance to shine in broadcast journalism and film categories. The cost is only $75 per student, which includes all contest entry fees. Teachers and chaperones are free.

The event includes 10 novice contests for students in their first semester of a video class, and 22 varsity events for students with more experience. That is a record 32 contests at the 4-State!

Official registration takes place August 17 – October 9, but teachers may Sign-Up anytime before then.  Attendees are limited to 350. TEACHERS: ALL REGISTRATION FEES MUST BE RECEIVED BY OCTOBER 30, 2026

The home of The 4-State is Plaster Student Union at Missouri State.

All editing takes place in the Plaster Student Union. Each school is assigned a “home base” and furnished tables, chairs, and electricity.

There are several fast food options for students and teachers in PSU.

Contests entries will be submitted on flash drives.
